These Jeep Wranglers have been modified by school children

The SEMA Show in Las Vegas has become a Mecca for tuners in the past few years. The show has exploded in popularity, and the Specialty Equipment Market Association aims to take advantage of that popularity with its ‘High School Vehicle Build Program’.

The programme does pretty much exactly what it says on the tin. Each year, SEMA buys second-hand vehicles for a few different American high schools that have their own garages and mechanic classes. Once the cars have been sourced, the schools are sent a load of aftermarket parts for free, and the kids can get to work.

It’s all about inspiring a new generation of tuners. When the cars are finished, SEMA auctions them with the help of Bringatrailer.com, and the funds are then put back into buying cars for the following year. Clever isn’t it?

For 2019, the cars selected were Jeep Wranglers, and five different schools across the US were asked to pick up their spanners and fit some off-road mods.

Check out the results above. All of the Wranglers keep their original engines and gearboxes, but there’s a plethora of aftermarket lift kits, winches, wheels, leather interiors, bumpers and bodykits.

There are also many lightbars. We like lightbars.

The cars are currently up for auction with no reserves, and the winning bidder on each one will also have the chance to display it at the SEMA show later this year.
