Roush’s new supercharger kit will give your Ford F-150 705bhp
‘TVS R2650’ sounds like a fax machine. Is actually a massive supercharger setup
It is a well-known fact* that anything taking name inspiration from a fax machine is likely to be fast and powerful. And so it is with Roush’s new product, named ‘TVS R2650’.
This innocently named product is actually a socking-great supercharger setup for the Ford F-150 pick-up truck. Considering it provides over 300bhp more than the standard car, you can think of many other inappropriate names.
The kit’s only available for the 5.0-litre V8 truck – of course – and features a roots-type supercharger with four-lobe rotors and 170 degrees of twist. We’re told it comes with oversized bearings and thicker timing gears and… wait, come back!
To paraphrase Bruce Wayne, it’s all a bit technical. Easier to digest is the new radiator which is twice the size of Roush’s previous low-temp rad, for better cooling. There are also new spark plugs specifically tuned for superchargers.
Still with us? Good. When fitted to the V8 pick-up, the TVS R2650 will offer class-leading printing... no, wait, wrong thing. It will instead offer 705bhp and 635lb ft, the latter improving matters by 225lb ft, broadly the equivalent of slotting in the torque of an entire hot hatch.
All factory driving modes are retained, it still features cylinder deactivation and if fitted by a Ford dealer, even gets a warranty. Which you won’t be able to receive by fax, one suspects.
*Not a well-known fact, but proven by the McLaren MP4-12C
