Roush’s new 810bhp Mustang supercharger kit gives it GTD-spec power for $10k
Want a GTD without the trick aero but with all the punch? Step this way. Carefully…
Roush is no stranger to pumping up the Ford Mustang to brave new heights, and now it has revealed a very brave, very high height. For its new supercharger bolted onto the Mustang GT V8 helps it punch out a massive 810bhp.
That’s around the same as the limited-edition, GT3 RS-baiting Ford Mustang GTD, though you’d stand a better chance of seeing a lightweight Range Rover than ever getting one of those $325k+ track monsters. (As of May 2024, over 7,500 people applied for one... from a limited run of just 1,000 cars.)
The GTD of course, isn’t just a power car, because there’s a tonne (not literally) of aero trickery at play. Roush swings for the rafters with its engine-only upgrade, courtesy of a dual-throttle body kit. So, there’s an inverted Eaton TVS R2650 supercharger with a front inlet, dual intercoolers and an 84mm pulley.
That maintains 13psi at 7,000rpm – reusing Ford’s original 80mm throttle bodies and induction bits – to produce that headline horsepower figure and 630lb ft of torque.
Other bits that contribute include a large heat exchanger, a Bosch intercooler pump, new injectors and fuel rails, and... sparkier? Yes, sparkier Ford Performance spark plugs.
Prices? The 'Launch Edition' - that comes bearing Jack Roush's signature, no less - starts from $9,995, which feels like fairly exceptional value next to one of those $325k+ track monsters.
