This one-off Alpina B6 Gran Coupe's detailing is delicious

The BMW Car Club of America has commissioned a quite exquisite B6 BiTurbo

Published: 11 Sep 2017

The BMW Car Club of America and Alpina have joined forces to create what might be the ideal Alpina supersaloon. Meet the Alpina B6 xDrive Gran Coupe CCA Edition. Snappy titles do not come as standard.

Hauling along that severely over endowed name is a 4.4-litre, twin-turbo V8 developing 600bhp and 590lb ft. All of that’s harnessed with all-wheel drive, or xDrive as BMW likes to term it, so the B6 arrives at 60mph 3.6 seconds after setting off, and isn’t interested in a 155mph limiter. In fact, it’ll run all the way on to 198mph.

To create the ‘CCA Edition’, this particular B6 is carrying some very choice mods. There’s the detail stuff, like lacquered silver inscriptions on the centre console, and white stitching on the steering wheel to match the white leather upholstery. Not one for a road-trip happy family, this car.

Then there’s the exhaust. The B6 has been fitted with a bespoke, one-piece titanium system that runs a whopping 12 feet in length (that’s 3.65 metres) and saves 6.8kg in weight. Alpina could’ve rounded that up to a nice, round 7kg, but it chose to tip the titanium pipes with carbon fibre finishers. We’ll let them off, as the B6 was never exactly a poster child for lightness…

Though this project was a one-off, it’s the latest in a growing list of manufacturers sprinkling very desirable, very expensive accessories and trim on standard models, fuelling generously-walleted types’ lust for a car they can legitimately call ‘1 of 1’. Which begs the question, what would you specify, given a bottomless budget and a carmaker with an imagination as wide as yours?
