This modified Ford F-150 Lightning might just be the perfect roadtrip EV
Tjin Edition’s SEMA build comes complete with solar charging, a roof tent and… Recaro seats
Roadtripping in an EV can still be a little bit of a chore sometimes. It’s almost never the fault of the cars, but the infrastructure often just isn’t up to the task. This might make things a little easier though – it’s Tjin Edition’s take on a Ford F-150 Lightning.
It’s been built in collaboration with Ford and Thule, with the latter supplying the roof box and the separate box that’s sitting on top of the pickup bed. That second one isn’t just more storage though – it’s actually a full fold-out roof tent. Heck, you could just pop that up when you get to a fast-charger, have a quick nap while plugged in and then get straight back on the road. Brilliant.
There’s loads more too. Ford describes this SEMA 2022 build as a ‘Swiss Army Knife’ and looking at the spec sheet you can see why. There’s solar charging (which presumably helps run some of the additional electric bits) a portable air compressor, an onboard fridge, a cooking station out back, four Recaro seats and a gun safe in the centre console. Not quite sure about the need for that last bit.
There’s also space for two Super73 e-bikes to be mounted on the back, and we’re loving the outdoors-spec forest green and beige colour scheme.
What do we think, folks?
