Mitsuoka Orochi Gold: still ugly

Published: 09 Jun 2010

Like g-o-o-o-l-d? Partial to nausea, unease and intestinal discomfort? You'll want the Mitsuoka Orochi, then. Now with added gold.

Yes, the World's Ugliest Car just stayed a whole lot ugly. Mitsuoka - as James May pointed out - is Japan's tenth largest car maker and has reminded the world that it makes this car. By re-trimming it in gold.

The Premium Gold Orochi gets a new paint job, a new front spoiler and a rear one that has presumably been styled on Poirot's moustache. You also get some gold badging because, hey, gold is cool!

Just 20 of these golden honey-magnets will be made for the princely sum of 95,000 Euro, or £78,000. For a 233bhp, 3.3-litre V6-engined ‘sports car'. Aston V8 Vantage, you say? Pah. We demand overly complicated body panels and inconsistent styling.

Yes, it's got looks and ride quality only James May could love. But be honest, after a while the little critter starts to grow on ya, doesn't it?

Altogether now, I love g-o-o-o-l-d!
