Manthey Racing’s new £100k 992 GT3 RS package gives it over 1,000kg of downforce
You’ll also get more hardcore suspension and brakes, though the nat-asp flat-six engine remains untouched
The 992-generation GT3 RS has been with us for a while now, which, naturally, means it’s time for Manthey Racing to have a fiddle and unlock even more of its potential.
See that new aero kit? How could you miss it. It apparently increases downforce at 177mph to a frankly preposterous 1,000kg (up from 860kg in the standard car). Think of it as having a whole Gordon Murray T.50 perched on the roof at speed. Yikes.
Out front the kit includes a new lip spoiler, carbon canards, a pair of dive planes at each corner and redesigned Gurney flaps along the wheel arches. There are aero disc covers on the alloys too, which help reduce air resistance and improve air flow.
As you can probably see, there's been more work round the back: the window is replaced by a carbon panel, which joins up with the *massive* DRS-equipped wing via a carbon shark fin. That in turn works with six smaller roof fins to send heaps of air smoothly rearwards, while also pushing hot air from the front-mounted radiator away from the intake. Mmm, lovely cool intake air. We should probably mention that super-aggressive rear diffuser too. Good grief.
Hidden changes include semi-active coilover suspension with increased spring rates - 30 per cent at the front and 15 per cent at the rear - new shock absorbers, and variable damper tuning. You get upgraded racing-spec brake pads and, no, we don’t understand how this thing is road-legal either.
As is the case with Manthey products, the focus is on improving cornering speeds and overall stability, so the engine remains untouched. That 4.0-litre naturally aspirated flat-six still chucks out 518bhp and revs to 9,000rpm.
Manthey has also confirmed it’s not yet attempted a ‘Ring lap due to poor weather conditions, but we’re expecting the standard car’s run of 6m 49.3s - which in itself is a full 10 seconds quicker than the GT2 RS - to see some improvement. Or a very awkward few hours of silence at the company's headquarters if not.
You can add a bit of individuality too, with Manthey offering illuminated door sill guards, LED door projectors and a selection of decals and vinyls.
The kit is available to order now from Porsche Centres UK-wide, with prices starting at £99,999 (minus the actual GT3 RS, obviously) and initial deliveries scheduled for January 2025. Any RS owners got a spare seat going for a weekend at the ‘Ring?
