John Elkann’s special Ferrari FF is hiding a secret inside
Then chairman of Fiat SpA, Elkann ordered a very special option on his FF
A second-hand supercar heading up for auction isn’t exactly major breaking news, even when it’s a V12-engined Ferrari. But this particular four-seat Ferrari FF is a little bit more special than most, because it was originally ordered by none other than John Elkann.
Now, Elkann is currently executive chairman of Ferrari and chairman of Stellantis (among many other businessman-spec roles), but at the time of the FF’s reveal in 2011 the grandson of Gianni Agnelli was the big boss of Ferrari’s then parent company, Fiat SpA.
Hardly surprising to learn that Elkann didn’t need to stick to the options on the configurator, then, but even so his FF is pretty special. The wonderful shooting brake-style exterior is finished in Nuovo Blu for a start, but that’s then complemented by an outstanding blue interior complete with actual cloth seats.
The seats are finished with white contrast piping and prancing horses stitched into the headrests, and up above there’s a giant panoramic roof. Because Elkann clearly needed a view of blue skies to match the interior colour. Heck, there’s even tinted blue carbon trim in there.
Anyway, this particular car is heading across the block at RM Sotheby’s Paris Auction later this month, with an estimate of between £190,000 and £280,000. Reckon that’s good value for a unique grand tourer with just under 10,000 miles on its 6.2-litre V12.
