The Manhart MHX6 Dirt² is your Dakar car for the road

900bhp X6 has an exoskeleton, mini fridge and tyre strapped to the boot

Published: 07 Dec 2017

The BMW X6M is a divisive car at the best of times. A 2.3-tonne SUV made to attack racetracks is quite a lot to get your head around, while tuned versions of the BMW X6M compound this pickle. Do you really need more power? Well, here’s the ultimate conundrum; an X6M (a car that’s been designed to pummel race tracks), that’s been tuned by Manhart for more power and then made to go off-road.

It’s called the Manhart MHX6 Dirt², a limited run, tuned Dakar car for the road from the German tuner complete with an exoskeleton, mini fridge and tyre strapped to the boot.

Not content with the M department’s thorough revisions of the X6’s twin-turbo V8 (575bhp and 553lb ft of torque), Manhart has wound it up quite a bit more. Like, 900bhp and 885lb ft more. This is thanks to new pistons, connecting rods and upgraded turbochargers, as well as a new carbon air intake, beefier cooling and a shouty exhaust system.

To handle all this extra oomph, the MHX6 Dirt² has a heavy duty transmission and strengthened rear axle, as well as larger brakes and a limited-slip differential. Suspension mods include a new set of KW springs to jack up the ride height, and there’s 21-inch wheels wrapped in 305×40 BF Goodrich all-terrain tyres.

As you can see, there are quite a few, um, additions to this very yellow carbon clad X6M. Most notably the external roll cage, and not one but two snorkels. Plus a spare wheel strapped to the boot, plenty of heavy duty underbody protection, and a bull bar with a winch attached, for the rare circumstances the MHX6 Dirt² Concept might get stuck.

It’s only a concept for now, but if it does go ahead, only five will be made, and you’ll need to throw €395,000 Manhart’s way.
