Manhart has given the four-cylinder C63 a boost to 715bhp
Four-pot hybrid AMG goes from 671bhp as standard to 715bhp. We still miss the V8
German tuner Manhart is aware that none of you are fully sold on the new four-pot hybrid Mercedes-AMG C63, despite the fact it comes with 671bhp and 752lb ft of torque straight out of the box…
“Instead of the previous V8, a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine is now used as the gasoline engine. This results in a significant loss of prestige for the AMG,” reads Manhart’s latest press release.
The question is though, how does one restore that prestige? Well, as ever, Manhart reckons the answer is more power.
So, this new CRE 700 gets a fresh ECU that ups the power made by the C63’s combustion engine. As a result, the total outputs when paired with the electric motor are 715bhp and 826lb ft. Good grief.
There’s a new exhaust too that apparently gives the C63 “a significantly more powerful sound”, although neither of the bits are TÜV-approved so you won’t actually be able to buy them in Germany.
Still, Manhart says that if the market for tuning new C63s is there then components with TÜV approval are “undoubtedly possible”.
Despite the power bump there have been no changes to the braking system in this CRE 700 either, although Manhart does say it could fit some bigger stoppers if customers wanted. The wheels are still the standard 20-inch AMG items too (although they now feature a little bit of red detailing), but the whole thing has been lowered by 20mm with a set of H&R springs.
