Fancy 939bhp from your monstrous Mercedes-AMG GT 4dr hybrid?
Nürburgring-based tuner Opus gets mega power from Merc’s four-door PHEV
The Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S 4MATIC+ E Performance already does things in rather LARGE quantities. We’re not just referring to the amount of letters in its ludicrously long name either – as standard it gets 831bhp and 1,084lb ft of torque from the ever-present AMG 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 and a fancy fast power delivery hybrid system. Weighs more than 2.4 tonnes too.
German tuner Opus clearly reckons that heft means even more power is needed though, because it has just unveiled its first tuning package that takes the E Performance’s output to a terrifying 939bhp.
All of the upgrades focus on the classic combustion V8, with the electric motor still providing its usual 201bhp of assistance. There’s now 1,143lb ft of torque too, so the 0-62mph time drops by two tenths to just 2.7 seconds.
The Nürburgring-based tuner has also developed a controllable flap for the exhaust and configured a module for the air suspension that can drop it by up to 40mm for ‘show’ purposes and 20mm on the move.
All of the upgrades will apparently be available in October this year, but over the winter Opus will be working on taking things to the next level. Yep, it wants to hit 1,000bhp.
Thoughts, folks?
