Check out this stunning, 725bhp custom-built Ford GT

The paint alone took a whole year to complete

Published: 28 May 2019

Remember the purple, current-gen Ford GT that we showed you last week? Of course you do, things that beautiful make a lasting impact.

Well, we’ve now got a difficult question for you. Would you rather have that, or the one-of-a-kind ‘Merkury 4’ Ford GT that you see above?

Let us first give you some more details. The Merkury 4 was the third iteration of the Camilo Signature Series – an eight-car run of custom Ford GTs that were all overseen by Camilo Pardo, the chief designer of the 2002 Ford GT concept and the 2005 and 2006 production GT.

It is completely bespoke and features a chemically bonded Mirrachrome paintjob that took a year to complete. Add to that the Gulf orange accents and you’ve got a not-so-understated but thoroughly excellent-looking GT.

Thankfully this wasn’t just a skin-deep customisation either. There’s a Ford racing exhaust, HRE centre-lock wheels, Penske shocks and oh, a Whipple Supercharger that takes power up to 725bhp. Crikey.

Click through the images above too and you’ll notice the exhaust exits through the rear bumper – a tribute of course to the Le Mans conquering GT40.

The best part? The Merkury 4 is currently for sale courtesy of Hemmings, and the $750,000 price tag is listed as negotiable. Time to reach down the back of the sofa and get our haggling hats on then…
