Check out Novitec’s 701bhp McLaren 620R
German tuner takes on Brit track weapon. Raises top speed to 204mph
McLaren is only planning to build 225 examples of its raciest road car yet – the 620R. Somehow though, German tuner Novitec has got its hands on one of those cars and has turned it up to 11.
The standard 620R is based on the 570S GT4 racer and already ups power from that car’s (limited) 500bhp to a much healthier 612bhp. Novitec, though, has flashed the engine’s control management unit and fitted a lightweight inconel sports exhaust for a total of 701bhp and 524lb ft of torque from the twin-turbo 3.8-litre V8. Crikey.
Novitec reckons the result is 0-62mph in just 2.8 seconds and a top speed of 204mph.
And yet, this set of upgrades isn’t all about power. There are newly calibrated sports springs as well as forged, centre-locking wheels from US manufacturer Vossen. Those help the weight stay just below 1,400kg. Oh, and as it’s Novitec there are a few new carbon fibre bits on the exterior too.
There’s no word on how much all the bits will cost and whether buyers will be able to mix and match, but presumably if you’ve just bought a 620R, you’re probably not too worried about splashing out a bit more if you like this thing.
What do we reckon, folks?
