Buy this Alpine A110 R, get a free lap of Le Mans

The Alpine A110 R Le Mans edition isn’t a car, it’s a track day with a car thrown in

Published: 07 Jun 2023

Having sold a Fernando Alonso edition of the A110 R last year - for the eye-watering price of £132k, don’t forget - Alpine has come up with another limited-run adaptation, this time inspired by the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Launched to coincide with the centenary of the famous endurance race this weekend, only 100 examples of the A110 R Le Mans edition will find their way out of the factory in Dieppe.

The A110 R canvas means highly liberal use of carbon fibre, chiefly on the roof, wheels, rear wing and throughout the interior, not excluding those Sabelt Track bucket seats. The top speed remains 177mph with 0-62mph taking 3.9 seconds.

Meanwhile the livery is a patriotic mix of white, blue and red, and you’ll find the L24H logo on the front splitter, side sills and headrests. Heck, you’ll even find the track layout engraved into the sun visor.

Alpine has also fitted what it calls a ‘Road and Track chock’, which it says lowers and stiffens the car by 5 per cent for better stability on track and enhanced performance on the Mulsanne straight.

Don’t scoff though, if you buy this car you will actually get the chance to drive down the Mulsanne straight: Alpine is offering all buyers access to its endurance team’s facilities in 2024, and the opportunity to complete a lap of the full Le Mans circuit the morning before the race. Not a bad treat, that.

Alpine isn’t without heritage at Le Mans of course: it won the race in 1978, and has recently competed in the LMP1 and LMP2 classes, with a return to the top-tier LMDh Hypercar category slated for 2024.

No prices have been announced as yet, but with the base R costing £95k it will undoubtedly cost… a lot. So much so that you’re probably better off thinking of it as an exclusive track day with a free car at the end of it.
