Bugatti Sur Mesure has revealed these custom-painted Chirons

Remember just before Christmas when Bugatti announced it was launching a special customisation division? Well the pair of Chirons you see here are two of the first to get the Sur Mesure treatment.

Quite out there, aren’t they? Let’s start with the Chiron Super Sport: it gets what Bugatti calls a ‘Vagues de Lumiére’ paint job, with a California Blue finish liberally decorated with ‘Aancia Mira’ (read ‘orange’) decals.

The same finish is applied to the magnesium wheels and engine bay lettering, while the number 38 appears on the grille at the request of the owner.

Meanwhile, the Chiron Pur Sport gets exposed Blue Carbon bodywork with Nocturne stripes, a French Tricolor on the rear wing endplates, plus lashings of French Racing Blue inside and out.

The process for both cars took a total of five weeks, with every layer of paint (and Bugatti says there are a lot) applied carefully by hand with ‘millimetre-perfection’. Plenty of clearcoat is applied afterwards to make sure the handiwork survives the elements thereafter.

“The ‘Vagues de Lumiére’ paintwork applied to these two examples of our hyper sports cars embodies Bugatti’s fundamental philosophies; craftsmanship, innovation and heritage,” said Christophe Piochon, president of Bugatti. “I’m truly excited to witness what our customers, alongside the Sur Mesure team, create in the years to come”.
