ABT VW Scirocco news - Roc’ up - 2008

Published: 01 Dec 2008

Rumours of a hotter VW Scirocco – something akin to the GT24 concept we saw earlier this year – have been circulating furiously for a while now.

If and when it turns up, could it look anything like this, the new tuned Scirocco from German turners ABT? We wouldn’t be too upset if it did.
There’s nothing especially ground-breaking going on – dropped ride height, bigger wheels, bit of a bodykit – but it doesn’t look too bad, does it?

ABT’s Scirocco gets a tuned-up version of VW’s two-litre ‘TSI’ engine, putting out 240bhp – which might not be a million miles off the powertrain of the rumoured hot Scirocco: recent reports suggest that it could be powered by the 265bhp turbo engine from the Audi S3 rather than the 3.2-litre V6 from the Golf R32. Fine by us.

Oh, and just one more thing, VW: when the hot Scirocco turns up, make sure it’s green. Green Sciroccos are good.
