Mitsubishi Evo X news - You big tease, you - 2007
Either Mitsubishi is milking the new Evo for all its worth before it finally unveils the real deal or it's pulling off the most elaborate hoax in motoring history.
Whichever it is, what we have here is another picture of the upcoming Lancer Evo X.
The new car will use a development of Mitsubishi's four-wheel-drive system called AWC2.
This draws together all of the various braking, traction control, suspension and engine management gizmos to help the Evo X go round corners even more supremely than its predecessors.
A new 2.0-litre turbocharged engine lurks under the bonnet and is attached to a six-speed sequential manual gearbox.
The Lancer Evo X will finally make its entrance in production form at the Frankfurt motor show in September, although it's a safe bet that it will look exactly like the concept in the picture.
Sales will begin in March 2008 in the UK, along with the standard four-door Lancer saloon. A five-door Lancer will follow on in September 2008.
