Infiniti’s cabrio: nearly here
See more Infiniti G37 Convertible pics
The Infiniti G37 Convertible - Nissan's luxury rival to the BMW 3-Series Convertible and Audi A5 Cabriolet - goes on sale in the UK this autumn, and we've got a bunch more details on the really-quite-good-looking drop-top.
Powered by a lightly detuned version of 3.7-litre V6 petrol engine from the Nissan 370Z, putting out 316bhp, the G37 will reach 60mph in 6.2 seconds and hit the limiter at 155mph - putting it squarely between BMW 330i and 335i convertible pace.
Like the 3-Series, the G37 gets a folding hard-top, a three-piece arrangement that lowers in 25 seconds. If you're feeling a bit show-off, there's a button on the door handle to lower the roof from the outside (best used when the car is stationary, we'd advise), allowing you to nonchalantly continue your converstion with your boss/secretary/illicit weekend squeeze while the roof folds away behind you. Neat.
It's a well-kitted car: even the lower-spec GT version gets leather, heated seats and Infiniti's clever self-healing paint, while the top-spec GT premium gets a 30GB entertainment system and a tiny chimpanzee butler.
The only thing we don't know is the price, but expect the G37 to be around BMW money - upper 30 thousands, then.
Would you take one over the Beemer? Or the upcoming Lexus IS convertible?
