Impreza WRX news - Subaru are you?
These cloaked, mysterious teaser shots are all the rage at the moment.
In the run-up to the Frankfurt show, Kia showed us a Tony Blair-esque silhouette of its new Kee coupe, while Skoda tried desperately to drum up a bit of enthusiasm for the Fabia estate in the same fashion.
But here's a teaser that might be worth getting excited about. It's the Impreza WRX STi, the hottest version of Subaru's saloon-turned-hatch, due to be unveiled at the Tokyo motor show in a month's time.
What does it tell us? Well, not much more than we could have guessed, in truth. With big flared arches, a massive bonnet air intake and slightly convoluted styling, the new WRX STi looks to carry on the grand old traditions of hot Imprezas.
Still no word on just how quick it'll be, but expect the turbocharged 2.5-litre boxer four to develop something in the region of 300bhp. That'll initially be put to the road through a six-speed manual, but Subaru is also working on a DSG-style clutchless manual 'box that should find its way on to the Impreza.
The Impreza WRX STi should arrive in Britain next spring, with similar pricing to the outgoing saloon STi.
