Win a Hyundai Tucson!
Your chance to win a brand new car courtesy of Top Gear magazine and Hyundai
This year, the Hyundai ix35 Fuel Cell became the first-ever hydrogen-powered passenger car to go into full commercial production. We’re now in a world where all-electric, hybrid and liquid petroleum gas are all gaining traction as alternatives to petrol and diesel power, but never before have you been able to buy a car powered only by the first element.

So why does hydrogen make a difference? First of all, you refuel an ix35 Fuel Cell at a pump, on a forecourt. The technology may be new, but the overall experience is rather familiar. There is no ‘plugging in’ and the process is all rather speedy. And once your tank is full, you can head-off on the same sort of journey you would in a conventional car – the ix35 Fuel Cell has a range of around 365 miles and is capable of performance not dissimilar to a conventionally fuelled ix35 model. More hydrogen refuelling stations are beginning to open and, while it’s fair to say there is some way to go yet to create a significant Europe- wide network, more are an inevitability, not just a possibility. Back when the car was first invented, petrol stations were rather thin on the ground, too...
And then there is, arguably, the greatest benefit of all to owning and driving a hydrogen-powered car. When it comes to emissions, the ix35 Fuel Cell is truly a 100% environmentally friendly vehicle. As you waft silently along in this Hyundai, the only by-product it produces is water, the harmless, odourless result of the electro- chemical reaction between hydrogen and oxygen. Ultimately, when green hydrogen becomes more widely available (a version produced from renewable energy sources) cars like the ix35 Fuel Cell will be the true pioneers of genuinely sustainable motoring.
To celebrate, Hyundai has teamed up with Top Gear magazine (published by Immediate Media) to offer one lucky reader the chance to win a more conventional, yet highly fuel-efficient car, worth over £25,000. The all-new Tucson is a luxury cross-over that only emits 199g of CO2 per kilometre: click here to enter the competition and read the terms and conditions. Good luck!
