Hyundai Sonata news - Sonata slashed - 2008

Published: 30 Jul 2007

Badge snobbery be damned, with a massive £8,898 off its list price, the Hyundai Sonata makes a whole lot of sense

Ok, so it's a car that suddenly makes you mumble when asked the question 'What car do you drive?' in the pub, but the Hyundai Sonata is actually not a bad car. Boring, yes. A touch forgettable, yes. But not actively bad.

So even though we don't actually want a Sonata, it still makes our palms itch when Hyundai announces that it's lopped a whopping £3k off list prices across the range.

You still get leather, Smartnav, 17-inch rims and ESP, as well as climate control as standard across the range that includes one petrol and one diesel, both of the 2.0-litre variety.

There's also the five-year Hyundai warranty and 3 years' free RAC Assistance with all of them, even the base-model £13,995 2.0 CDX. If you're looking for transport, as opposed to a car that represents you in any way, then it's worth a look.

Just nobody mention dealer margins, or someone might have a heart attack.
