Hyundai Genesis Concept news - Progressive rock - 2007
When we heard Genesis was going to be in New York at the beginning of April, we thought there must be something in the air.
We were right, but it's got nothing to do with AOR music. Instead it's Hyundai's latest show car, the Concept Genesis.
Like the ageing musicians, the Genesis is aimed at an older audience looking for comfort, and it will be Hyundai's first move into executive territory with a rear-wheel-drive car.
Powering the rear wheels is a brand new 4.6-litre V8 engine with more than 300bhp to deliver 0-60mph in less than six seconds.
Other new-for-Hyundai stuff includes a six-speed automatic gearbox and adaptive cruise control.
For the time being though, it looks as if the vehicle will be solely for the US market, with a price tag of $30,000 when it reaches showrooms in 2008.
There are rumours that the Genesis could come to the UK with the name i70, but Hyundai is saying nothing about a European tour.
