Nooo! Ford is killing off the three-door Fiesta
Meaning you can now only buy a five-door version of the brilliant little ST
Bad news! Ford has announced that the three-door Fiesta is not long for this world, with production at its plant in Cologne set to end at some point this summer.
Superminis just look better with three doors rather than five, don’t they? Clearly it’s no longer what the people want, though. In fact, the Fiesta in all forms lost its place as Ford’s best-selling car in Britain last year… to the Puma.
As a result, Ford wants to simplify its Fiesta offerings. That means all of the three-doors go, along with the Fiesta Van and the more powerful 153bhp 1.0-litre engine option. There will still be five-door versions with ST-Line, Active, Titanium and Trend trim levels though, and the five-door ST will continue to battle the Hyundai i20N for baby hot hatch supremacy.
Are you sad to see the three-door die?
