Look at this Ford Focus RS taxi
Norwegian hero clocks up 80k miles in 18 months in his RS cab
Meet Evald Jastad – Top Gear’s favourite taxi driver. Evald lives and works in the small and quite stunning town of Odda in south-western Norway, where most cabbies drive, well, we’re not sure actually. But they almost certainly don’t drive these things.
Regulars call Evald’s Ford Focus RS – he says the world’s first and only RS taxi – “Blue Lightning”. He’s clocked up 79,000 miles in the last 18-months, driving locals (among them an adorable 96-year-old woman and his reassuringly speed-hungry toddler) around town and across the Trolltunga cliffs.
Why a Focus RS? Why the hell not. If you have to spend all day behind the wheel, you may as well do it in something fun. And the Focus RS is that, with its 2.3-litre, 350bhp turbocharged engine, sub 5-second 0-62mph time, 166mph top speed and hooligan-compatible Drift Mode.
Big respect, Evald. Loving the OZs, too…
