The 197bhp Fiesta ST200 will cost £22,745
Prices announced for Ford's little pocket rocket. Tempted?
Ford has announced a price for its new Fiesta ST200. That price is £22,745. Which means it's more expensive than both the Peugeot 208 GTi 30th Anniversary, and the Clio RS 220 Trophy - the latter of which boasts more power.
But then this hotter ST ought to be a cracker in its own right. As you know, the ST200's 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine gets a boost to a nice round 200PS (or 197bhp) and 214lb ft of torque. There's an additional 14-and-a-bit more horsepower for 20 seconds on overboost, too.
Which means the 0-62mph time has been brought down from 6.9s in the standard, already quite excellent ST, to just 6.7s in this hotter ST200. Top speed? 143mph.
And there's bonus goodness for fourth gear fanatics, too: acceleration from 31mph to 82mph now takes only 5.2 of your boostiest seconds.
It's not all about boost, as Ford has played around with the chassis, too. The rear twist-beam has 27 per cent more roll stiffness, the front anti-roll bar has been thickened up to 21mm, which both aid 'revised' dampers for better absorption of impacts. Like the regular ST too, this ST200 has been dropped by 15mm. Because stance.
There's torque vectoring, a three-stage ESP, the steering's been sharpened up too, and that all-important 'on-centre' feel has been improved. Wait, come back, it's got new alloys too and some spoilers too!
Plus a new colour (grey). And bigger brakes, side skirts, new Recaro seats, carbon fibre dash inserts, and a system that pipes in engine noise into the cabin. Vroom vroom indeed.
So, now Ford's shown it's hand with price, where would your money go?
