Honda Accord Type R news - Is this the Accord Type R? - 2010
The Honda Accord is a fine car. A worthy car. But not an especially exciting car.
But it might be if Honda takes inspiration from its Canadian colleagues. This is the Acura TL A-Spec, a muscled-up saloon from Honda's luxury brand. We think it looks rather excellent.
You won't be able to buy it in the UK. Or indeed anywhere else in the world but Canada. But - and here's the thing - the Acura TL is closely, closely related (like, Royal-Family-marriage closely related) to the Honda Accord.
So it'd be no trouble at all for the guys from Honda to liberally borrow those wheels and tasty aero kit and stealthy paintjob for the UK-spec Accord. And then fit it with a hot version of their own 3.5-litre V6 and call it the Accord Type R.
That'd be one hell of a rival for the VW Passat R36 and Insignia VXR, right?
