The Ford Mach-E GT is a 480bhp, £67k electric SUV
The punchiest Ford EV yet claims over 300 miles of range and 0-62mph in 3.7 seconds
Ford’s quickest road-going EV yet is finally on sale in the UK. Deliveries of the Mach-E GT start later this year, but you can order one now.
Prices start at £67,225, which sounds like a lot. But the Mach-E GT does have a good spec; twin e-motors making a combined 480bhp, 0-62mph in 3.7 seconds (with a US-style 1ft rollout), a claimed 310 miles of range thanks to an 88kWh battery, wider tyres, Brembo brakes and adaptive dampers.
There’s even a special ‘Untamed Plus’ drive mode “designed to help drivers balance the powertrain output on a track for lap time consistency”. Because, erm, reasons… Charging at 150kW should yield 60 miles of range in as little as ten minutes.
Separating the all-wheel-drive GT from the ordinary Mach-E are the 20-inch alloys, sports seats, special bumpers/grilles and optional Grabber Blue or Cyber Orange paintwork. It gets all the same tech as the standard car, including the 15.5-inch portrait touchscreen and B&O stereo.
Rivals? The Tesla Model Y Performance is the obvious one, but you can’t get one of those in the UK yet. Then there’s the Jaguar I-Pace, which starts from £65,000.
The Ford Mach-E GT is on display at this weekend’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.
