The new Lexus UX crossover will handle like a hatchback*
*According to Lexus, anyway. First official pic of new UX crossover revealed
It’s not as wilfully bonkers as the concept UX we first saw in Paris a couple of years ago, but it’s punchy nonetheless: this is the new Lexus UX.
It will be revealed in full at next week’s Geneva Motor Show, and will become the smallest of Lexus’s crossover/SUV offerings, slotting beneath both the NX and RX.
What do we know about it? Underneath, we’re promised a new platform that allows for exceptional rigidity and a low centre of gravity. This, says Lexus, means the baby crossover will be as pointy as a hatchback.
There’s mention of ‘powerful’ bodywork, and some talk of musculature within the flanks. Inside, there is a ‘commanding’ view of the road, lots of tech, lots of space, and an invitation to join “the Lexus luxury brand in a dynamic and growing part of the market”.
Ah yes, ‘growing’. Crossovers are all the rage and will remain so. For further reference see exhibits Mercedes-Benz GLA, Jaguar E-Pace, Volvo XC40 and BMW X2. And many, many others.
We’ll let you know more as soon as we have it.
