Morgan readies new supercar
Wood enthusiasts step this way, for Morgan is about to launch a new car. Due for an official airing at the Geneva Motor Show next week, it's the first new Morgan since last year's Plus 8 Speedster and looks very much like a GT-type successor to the bonkers Aeromax and Supersports models.
In a promo video we're treated to a close-up of some quilted seats while an engine revs and the camera trembles. That engine is most likely to be a BMW V8, although the one used in previous Morgans isn't up to the latest emissions rules, so it might be a newer version with turbos. Either way, it will blow off steam through Morgan's signature side-exit exhausts.
A leaked sketch shows a purplish silhouette with a loooong bonnet and retro-gothic styling, including a swooping fender running from those exhausts all the way up'n'over the front wheel. In traditional Morgan style the cabin is set way back, and it's topped by a roof, so it's a coupe.
At the front its business as usual with those familiar boggle-ish headlights - derived from the Mini - and hamster cheeks. Love or hate? Let the arguments commence...
