This is a GT4-spec Alpine A110
Alpine racer debuts in Geneva
Look here, Alpine has done a GT4 version of the A110 and boy, does it look good. Built by Alpine’s motorsport partner Signatech, the A110 GT4 shares the road car’s “lightweight aluminium chassis and double wishbone suspension”, but adds motorsport-spec springs, dampers, brakes, tyres, aero and so on to bring it up to GT4 regs.
The 1.8-litre turbocharged, four-cylinder engine remains but gets “significant power upgrades” and a sequential, competition gearbox. With the inevitable weight savings, this means 312bhp/tonne – the maximum allowed by GT4 regs. Meanwhile a safety cage, fire extinguisher and race seat/harnesses are there should things go base over apex.
Production will begin in earnest for the 2019 season, but you’ll start seeing these things at race weekends from the second half of this season. Signatech will also offer buyers of A110 Cups an upgrade pack, transforming their car into a GT4 and giving them the chance to graduate from the A110 Cup to GT4 without having to buy a whole new one. Neat, when the RRP for an A110 GT4 is likely to top €100,000 (a Cayman GT4 Clubsport was €110k plus tax…).
