The Aston DBX by Q comes with all of the carbon

This, Internet, is the Aston Martin DBX showing off its ‘darker side’. It’s come from the British sports car maker’s Q Division, which takes care of wilder, more bespoke versions of Aston’s product line.

Expect many DBXs to end up with the Q treatment in order to properly battle Autobiography-ed Range Rovers. This first DBX does it with seemingly all of the carbon. Ever.

The centre console, door trims and boot floor all get vast swathes of the stuff, with the former being the most interesting. And intensive to produce. It’s crafted from 280 individual layers of carbon (yikes) and enjoys a 12-hour curing process, and 90 hours of five-axis milling (whatever that happens to be) before being slotted inside the DBX.

It’s complemented by a “bespoke diamond patterned satin chrome aluminium jewellery pack machined from solid”, as are most areas of the TopGear.com office. So we should feel right at home inside this particular DBX. There’s a carbon pack on the exterior as well – naturally – as well as 22in gloss black wheels.

Beneath it all is a stock DBX – with its 542bhp V8 engine and four-wheel drive – and if you don’t like the way it looks, then Q’s seemingly infinite customisation options means yours can look as wild as you like. How would you spec yours?
