Here’s that 2001 Renault Kangoo you wanted in Gran Turismo 7
Polyphony’s March update contains a spectacular deep cut from noughties motoring, among other additions
The best thing about driving games is that they allow you to realise what would otherwise be impossible fantasies. So it’s with great pleasure that we can announce you can now drive around some of the world’s most legendary race circuits in a 24-year old light commercial vehicle. Kangoo, meet Nordschleife. Nordschleife, Kangoo.
Renault’s aforementioned minivan is the highlight of GT7’s 1.57 update, but by no means the sole addition. It’s one of three new vehicles to join the roster, and its fellow inductees are the 2018 Aston Martin Vantage and 2021 Mazda CX-30 X Smart Edition.
You can now also use Polyphony’s frighteningly skilful machine learning AI, aka GT Sophy, in custom events on the tracks and layouts it’s been trained on. That’s a step towards Sophy ultimately representing all AI racers in any offline event.
A handful of tracks have been added to ‘World Circuits’ events, and there are numerous more tweaks and improvements listed in Polyphony’s official PlayStation Blog post, frankly none of which are as interesting as the Kangoo.
