Forza 6 is out today, and it features a very rainy Top Gear test track

New Xbox title offers the chance to race the Stig’s digital cousin. And lose pitifully

Published: 18 Sep 2015

If you’ve long harboured the desire to drive around a wind-blasted airfield in Surrey in the pouring rain, from the comfort of your own living room, today is your lucky day.

Today sees the launch of Forza Motorsport 6 on the Xbox One, featuring not only Top Gear’s glamorous test track but, for the first time, rain. And lots of it.

Yep, Forza’s got wet weather, and TG’s humble home is bearing the full brunt of the storm. Quite why anyone would voluntarily subject themselves to a virtual soaking on a strip of concrete near Guildford is beyond us, but then we’ve never understood why you’d wish to hurl small spherical birds at fictional pigs, so what do we know?

Anyhow. Beyond the highly realistic British weather, Forza 6 is a genuine behemoth. It features 460 cars – including, of course, that headline Ford GT, along with, well, just about everything else from the world of road and track – and no fewer than 26 tracks, including the Nurburgring, Le Mans’ Circuit de la Sarthe, Silverstone, Yas Marina and of course the mighty TG test track.

That’s not all for TG-based simulatory excitement, either. Forza 6 gamers can partake in a variety of TG 'showcase' events, from 'bowling' in a BMW to racing hot rods. You can also race the Stig’s digital cousin – differing only from the Stig himself in that (a) he is occasionally fallible, and can thus be beaten by the most superhuman of racers, and (b) a pathological aversion to ducks – in a series of challenges in some of the finest cars of recent years: the Ariel Atom, Lambo Huracan, and many more.

Our office copy of Forza 6 has just landed, and we’re hard at work unlocking levels in a bid to crush Stig’s digital cousin once and for all. But no doubt you’ll get there before us, so feel free to send your finest Top Gear Forza 6 screengrabs to editor@topgear.com. We might do some of gallery-based thing with the best ones. We might not.
