F1 24 release date announced: motorsport sim arrives 31 May
Unlock some 2024 liveries in F1 23 if you pre-order now
As the motorsport world prepares itself to sing along to the Dutch national anthem this Sunday ahead of F1’s opening round in Bahrain, EA has some news: there’s a new F1 game on the way for PC, PlayStation and Xbox consoles.
You can check out the reveal trailer here - don’t expect a detailed breakdown though, it’s really just a teaser, with a full reveal coming later in April.
The announcement of F1 24 is interesting for a few reasons. Firstly and most obviously: a brand new F1 game to play! There’s been a career mode overhaul and a new handling model too, so we should be in for a vintage season.
Second, it’s releasing a bit earlier in the year than EA’s F1 titles usually do. It’s available from 31 May, just a few days after round eight at the Monaco GP in the 2024 calendar.
Ordinarily we don’t get the new game until mid-June in a given season, so clearly EA and Codemasters have been working at Red Bull-speed to deliver this annual upgrade package.
If the end of May seems heartbreakingly far away to wait before you get your chance to finish P2 behind Max, we’ve got some good news for you: if you pre-order the game before 24 April, you’ll unlock access to the full game three days ahead of its official launch.
You’ll also unlock some 2024 liveries to use in F1 23. The new Alpine, Haas, McLaren, and Williams designs will be yours to use in time trial challenges. Hope you like black.
We were big fans of the soap opera shenanigans in F1 23’s Braking Point mode last year, and as we noted in our F1 23 review, the handling and presentation are always a treat. High hopes for this year’s edition, then.
