The Crew Motorfest brings new vehicles, playlists, copious Red Bull branding and… a podcast
Featuring Yuki Tsunoda, no less
Motorfest marches on. Season six of Ubisoft Ivory Tower’s open world vehicular playground is out now and as ever, it’s an impressive update. Up against stiff competition in the form of Forza Horizon, Motorfest’s USP (besides planes and boats) has been an all-in approach to post-launch support, and the latest evidence of that is here in all its Austrian energy drink-slathered glory in season six.
Red Bull is very much the theme here, which means the 17 new vehicles being added to the roster throughout the season carry an extreme sports theme. Nine of them have been revealed so far, and they’re as follows:
Red Bull RB20 - 2024, KTM X-BOW R Experience Red Bull Ring - 2016, Mini John Cooper Works GP - 2020, BMW M4 Red Bull Driftbrothers ed - 2024, Ferrari 488 GT3 AF Corse - 2016, Ivory Tower Aezus GT - 2024, Audi RS Q e-tron - 2024, Ford Fiesta Red Bull Ed - 2017, and finally the Ford Puma Hybrid Rally 1 - 2022.
Also new is the ‘Red Bull Speed Clash’ event type, which “features races between different vehicle categories", says Ubisoft, “pitting an Alpha Grand Prix car against a plane or a Rally Raid car against a motorcycle”.
Then on 7 May comes the ‘Red Bull Wild Ride’ mode, which is probably about parking up and reading a poetry collection and sipping a flask of tea. Probably. We’ll get back to you on that when it lands.
Then there’s the curveball: a new podcast series, featuring Red Bull athletes including Formula One’s Yuki Tsunoda, which aims to cover car culture in all its forms. Here’s what Ubi has to say about it: "Motorfest: The Podcast" [is] a new podcast developed in collaboration between Red Bull and Ubisoft, available both inside and outside the game.
“This new in-game radio station features not only curated bangers, but also interviews with iconic Red Bull drivers, including Yuki Tsunoda, Robbie Maddison, Lukasz Czepiela, Elias Hountondji, Conor Shanahan, and Manuel Lettenbichler. Hosted by Becky Evans, (aka Queen B) a UK automobile lifestyle creator, this podcast bridges the gap between The Crew Motorfest and real-life motorsport, celebrating automotive culture. Episodes will be available on all streaming platforms.”
Episode 1 is available now in-game and here on YouTube, featuring creator Becky Evans and the aforementioned Mr Tsunoda.
