Package holidays normally consist of cheap flights to Benidorm, a sweaty half-board villa and complimentary drinks on arrival. But then there’s a McLaren package holiday. One where you travel between New Zealand’s gorgeous North and South Islands in Woking’s finest offspring, while staying in five-star accommodation and gorging on gourmet food. Feel that? Yeah, that’s your jealousy gland going into overdrive.

The eight-day tour happened recently, and having looked through the pictures above, makes us wish we tried a bit harder at school. Everything from mighty Nineties F1s, early 12Cs to the current lineage of incredible supercars (570S, 675LT and stunning P1) all descended on downtown Auckland – Bruce McLaren’s hometown – for a black-tie dinner before hitting the road.

First stop was a track day at the new Bruce McLaren Motorsport Park. It’s an interesting circuit set within a volcanic landscape with fast, sweeping corners to get the most out of the cars. Then it was on to Hawkes Bay for some wine tasting before loading up onto a ferry and across Cook Strait to the South Island.

After some stargazing at Lake Tekapo, there was a stop for some salmon fishing and a helicopter trip to Minaret Station for din-dins on a glacier. You can imagine how the Instagram likes would be racking up by this point.

But it doesn’t end there, as it was onto another track day – ­this time at Highlands Motorsport Park – before a final blast to Glenorchy for either a round of golf or bungee jumping. Y’know, just in case the event wasn’t epic enough for you already.

It wasn’t without incident, though. During the event, a McLaren F1 fell off the multi-million pound conga line and into a ditch on the Glenorchy-Queenstown Road near Closeburn. Luckily, no one was hurt in the accident. Well, apart from the owner's wallet that is. As we know the 242mph – the fastest nat-asp car ever – supercar isn’t cheap to repair. Just ask Rowan Atkinson. Even so, it looks like one hell of a week to remember. And filled our jealousy quota for the rest of the week.
