This is the new Porsche 911
This appears to be the new Porsche 911, leaked onto the Internet ahead of its official public debut at next month's Frankfurt motor show.
Porsche has not commented on the release of the images nor verified them, but it appears the slightly-longer but still-quite-compact sports coupe doesn't get a major overhaul, instead following the tried-and-tested Porsche route of subtle evolution.
You can see the rest of the images here
Porsche has opted to keep the front largely untouched, save for a minor grille alteration and indicator redesign, and the daytime running lights merging into the air intakes.
The mirrors have also been moved downward a touch, sitting on the door rather than at the base of the A-pillar.
The biggest difference is at the rear, which, as you'll see from the pics, sports a slimmer set of taillights tapering to a narrow slit. The integrated pop-up spoiler is also wider than we've seen in the past.
As you may remember, we found out lots more about this car - codenamed 991 - when we sent TG man Paul Horrell to South Africa in a development mule. There, in the stifling, 43-degree blood-boiling heat, he found the new 911 to be 100mm longer than before - to accommodate more human stuff inside - and around 30-40kg lighter than the outgoing 997 model thanks to aluminium being used for the floor, main structure (front and rear) and most of the external body panels. Even the inside beam is made of magnesium.
Inside this new model you'll also spot lots of bits pinched from the parts bin labelled ‘Panamera', together with a multi-instrument cluster and even an electric parking brake (that's why you can't see a manual one in the pics).
