Williams really has phoned in its special US livery, hasn’t it?

Williams becomes the third team to unveil a new look for the US GP. Predictably features stars and stripes

Published: 20 Oct 2023

Following on from the not-all-trailblazing path set by Haas and Red Bull, Williams is the latest team to unveil a special livery for this weekend’s US Grand Prix in Austin, Texas.

And you won’t be surprised to hear that stars and stripes feature rather prominently. Not exactly that inventive these F1 spec artists, are they? In fact, Williams has decided to just drape an American flag over the engine cover of the FW45 and be done with it. Shame.

Coming off the back of the special Gulf livery that Williams ran in Singapore, Japan and Qatar, this really is a bit of a letdown, not least because the rear wing also features an ‘NFT takeover’ by a company called Kraken.

Apparently, Kraken allowed its ‘community’ to vote for their top five NFTs, which have now been printed on the Williams rear wing. They then asked Williams drivers Alex Albon and Logan Sargeant to pick their favourites, which we’re sure they took very seriously indeed.

And are we the only ones still struggling with the whole concept of these NFT pictures?

Anyway, that’s the new look that Williams will be sporting this weekend. So, who do we think has done the whole stars and stripes thing best - Williams, Red Bull or Haas?
