Jamie Chadwick is the first woman to win a British F3 race

This weekend, Douglas Motorsport’s Jamie Chadwick made single-seater history as the first ever woman to win a British F3 race, after winning at Brands Hatch.

The 20-year-old, Bath-born racer adds the first place podium result to her already impressive list of records as the first female and youngest ever GT4 champion.

Starting in fourth, Chadwick raced into second place during the opening lap. Race leader Pavan Ravishankar was given a ten-second penalty for a jump start which dropped him back into 10th, and meant Chadwick cruised home to a gold finish.

Chadwick said after the race: "I knew that he [Ravishankar] was going to get a penalty but I was hoping it would be a drive-through so I could get my head down and I wanted to win on the road.”

When asked about how she felt to be the first female winner, she said: "This win is more about showing that it's possible. When I'm on the money I know I can be the quickest or one of the quickest. Today shows that it’s possible and nothing to do with my gender."

Chadwick is currently eighth in the championship, with six more rounds to go at Donington Park and Silverstone GP.
