All that glitters is… blue and green? RB unveils bespangled Vegas GP livery
Anyone else seeing an early 2000s Sauber?
It’s the Las Vegas Grand Prix this weekend, which means half of the grid is donning some kind of special outfit to mark the occasion of racing around Sin City.
This is RB’s effort. And it is glittery. Because of all of Vegas’s lights, right? Partly. It also draws inspiration from, er, a debit card. Yep, that’d be the Visa Cash App sponsorship at work.
Still, it looks rather old-school somehow. Think circa 2001 Sauber, or the Honda Earth car from 2007, and perhaps shades of a mid-90s Benetton. All smothered in glitter.
RB isn’t the only team running a one-off design this weekend, Sauber, Alpine and Williams (which has done a stunning job of repairing both its cars for the race - check out the behind-the-scenes vid here) are all running bespoke designs, and there’s talk of a Ferrari ‘n’ Gladiator II tie-up. *Inhales*... ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?
Plenty of drivers will be sporting one-off lids too, so keep an eye out for those. The more sparkly, the better.
