Formula 2 driver Ricardo Teixeira's airborne crash

Published: 04 May 2010

Crashes happen in motorsport. Sometimes they are small, sometimes they are big. And sometimes they are very much flying.

Portuguese Angolan driver Ricardo Teixeira had such an incident at the second race of the Formula 2 season in Marrakech on Sunday.

Attempting a pass on Ivan Samarin who slowed as he saw his adversary, Teixeira promptly slammed into the back of Samarin's gearbox. And then went flying.

"At first I was angry at him...and then I realised I was up in the air", Teixeira reported.

He went skyward, vaulted four cars and barrel-rolled to a finish, emerging - quite miraculously - uninjured.
