First Veyron Pur Sang up for grabs

Published: 14 Apr 2011

Most likely, you are hunched over your computer desk, desperately avoiding the attention of your boss and that Excel spreadsheet he is demanding. You are not a high-net-worth individual. You therefore won't be able to buy this.

It is a Bugatti Veyron Pur Sang, and as you can see, it is literally shiny. In fact, this is model number one of just five Pur Sangs ever built, and is being offered for auction at the Top Marques Monaco show, starting today. If you're curious (not curious, mind), Pur Sang means ‘pure blood'. And the Top Marques Monaco show is where high-net-worth individuals converge to spend their moolah and eat diamond-encrusted gold cakes.

It is offered via Pace Germany, a car sales company catering for obscenely rich individuals, and has listed the Veyron at £1.7 million. But don't worry, for your money, you get an automatic gearbox, some airbags, climate control, electric windows, four-wheel drive, alloys, a satnav system and even power steering as standard.

Also, there is some gubbins about 1,001bhp and a raw aluminium and carbon-fibre paint finish shaving some 100kg off the standard Veyron's weight. This may make it marginally faster. It has covered just 2,300 miles and, if you ask nicely and you are the winning bidder, may even get it with a full tank and a sticker. Job done.
