The Vauxhall Insignia Sports Tourer is here
Insignia estate gets teased ahead of Geneva reveal. Good-looking thing, no?
Good news today for cello and suitcase enthusiasts. Ahead of its reveal at next month’s Geneva motor show, Vauxhall has released images of the estate version of the new Insignia Grand Sport.
It’s called the Insignia Sports Tourer, like the car it replaces, and presumably because Insignia Grand Sport Sports Tourer wouldn’t fit on the boot lid…
We think it looks rather good. Luggage space is up by over 100 litres to 1,640 litres, and the load-bay is more than two metres long. There’s more space for passengers, too – head, shoulder and hip room are all up – and there are heated seats all-round plus optional massage and ventilation functions for the driver and front passenger. Interior tech includes WiFi, Apple CarPlay and OnStar, Vauxhall’s concierge service.
The whole car is up to 200kg lighter than the one it replaces, and it can be had with all kinds of clever tech like torque-vectoring all-wheel drive. Myriad active safety systems like lane-keep assist and lane-departure warning are available, as are Vauxhall’s active LED headlights.
Vauxhall promises “a range of turbocharged petrol and diesel engines” will be available, as will a new eight-speed automatic transmission.
What do we think? Is the Insignia ST enough to tempt families from their SUVs?
