The Skywell BE11 is a mid-size electric SUV that’ll reach the UK later this year
New Chinese EV will arrive with 304 miles of range, plenty of tech and a handsome exterior
Reckon the UK’s electric SUV armada is strong enough at present? Well, it’s about to receive even more support in the form of the Skywell BE11 - a new mid-size SUV from China.
From launch we're told that the BE11 will come with a 201bhp electric motor and a choice of two batteries: 72 and 86kWh. The former will provide a claimed WLTP range of 248 miles, with the latter increasing that to 304 miles. Not bad.
We're yet to see the interior, but Skywell importer Innovation Automotive says that the BE11 will come equipped with a 12.8in infotainment display, a panoramic roof and 360-degree parking cameras. Further tech includes intelligent cruise assist, traffic sign recognition and blind spot detection. No mention of a built-in PlayStation 5, sadly. Skywell wants to be a premium competitor though, so you do get leather seats and wood veneer in there too.
Looks-wise it's a little plain but certainly not offensive. You get Volvo-esque Y-shaped LED daytime running lights up front and the obligatory full-width lightbar at the rear. Two-tone 19in alloys too.
Pricing is as yet unconfirmed, so we don't actually know where the Skywell will sit in the UK's EV SUV market just yet. Apparently sales will commence in the third quarter of this year, and you can be pretty sure that it will at least cost more than Innovation Automotive's other import - the bargain basement Seres 3. Thoughts?
