Rivian’s first R1S and R1T special editions are 860bhp tributes to the Californian desert
That’ll be $100k for the pickup version of the EV, or $106k for the SUV
These are the very first limited-run Rivian R1S and R1T models, dubbed the ‘California Dune’ Editions. Presumably because they celebrate the... deserts of California.
Beyond the tan paint scheme, these EVs will gain colour-matching 20in alloys, recovery boards with custom mounting clips and thick roof racks. Since the All-Terrain package is included as standard, you’ll get lots of underbody strengthening and off-road recovery gear thrown in too.
Power is provided by a trio of e-motors which deliver 860bhp and 1,103lb ft through an all-wheel drive setup. Simply put, that translates to a 0-62mph time of around three seconds and an estimated driving range of 329 miles. Customers will get a new ‘Soft Sand’ driving mode too, which probably makes the R1 even better at navigating through… soft sand.
Inside it’s mostly business as usual, with a 15.6in infotainment screen and, ooh, about three acres of space for stretching out. These cars do get different flooring materials and mats though, plus two-tone colouring.
The R1T starts at $99,900, while the R1S bumps this up to $105,900.
