Meet the not-so-new 2017 Range Rover Evoque
A new ‘Ember’ edition and a better touch screen. It’s the tweaked Evoque, everyone!
Meet the Model Year 2017 Range Rover Evoque, newly available in a two-tone black and red ‘Ember Edition’. And no, we wouldn’t dare make any jokes about it looking like a £17k Ford Fiesta.
The two-tone Evoque Ember isn’t, lovely though its Dennis the Menace paint scheme is, the big news for the refreshed Evoque. The really good news is what the sharp-eyed among you will have already spotted in that interior shot – the new 10.2-inch 'InControl touch Pro' multimedia interface. You saw it first in the Evoque Cabrio, and now it’s in all Evoques (as an optional extra, but hey, it’s the one to have). Given how frustrating previous JLR systems have been, anyone biding his or her time to buy an Evoque might just have been doing the smart thing all along.
Otherwise, there are four new bodywork colours to choose, from, taking the hue total to 18, and a £2,125 ‘Graphite Design Pack’. For that, you'll pay twice the cost of that better touchscreen just to dull down the silver bits of brightwork. Hmm.
After five years on sale, why such a small update? 520,000 Evoque sales and counting might have something to do with that. Question is, with the willfully trendy Audi Q2 waiting in the wings, has the Evoque done enough to stay ahead?
