Kids have scrawled all over the brand new Land Rover Discovery
New Disco 5 gets one final camouflage before its public reveal later this month
We know that Land Rovers are made to tackle the toughest environments the world can throw at them, but now a Discovery has hit the mark with some real tough cookies: seven small children.
It was the final sign off after more than a million miles of testing for the new Discovery. Land Rover’s designers asked their kids to draw their favourite experiences, activities and animals, and wrapped a pre-production Disco in their artwork. As you might imagine, the kids were quite impressed with the final outcome.
The new Discovery, we're told, has been subjected to Land Rover’s most rigorous development testing ever. Previous incarnations have often been thought of as one of the only cars you’ll ever need, and this new one purports to be even more capable and versatile. More than 35,000 individual parts have been tested to the max, and over a million miles have been racked up by 294 development vehicles.
It’s been thoroughly tested across twenty countries, from the scorching deserts of Dubai to the wild Colorado mountains, and from the toughest off road tracks the UK has to offer to ice driving in the sub-zero temperatures of the Arctic Circle. LR say that, as a result, it should be more durable than ever.
It’s also the first Land Rover to undergo a full programme of virtual testing as well as the exhaustive physical testing programme, making it more aerodynamic than its boxy predecessor. And as you'll see in the brand new video above, it'll also do plenty of sideways. Yep, a Disco doing drifty. Brilliant.
The new Discovery will go on sale in the UK early next year.
