The Alfa Giulia GTA costs many euros, has many liveries

News just in from Italy: the wider, angrier 523bhp Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA will set you back €176,500.

What’s that? You’re only interested in the GTAm version – that’s the one with no back seats, a roll cage, and a wing the size of a snowboard? Bad news. You’re going to be €181,500 out of pocket. Yep, there’s a €5,000 premium for the ‘less is more’ version.  At current rates it's scraping £160,000.

Big money. Supercar money. So you’ll be wanting some special treatment. And Alfa is providing just that, in the form of go-faster stripes. Yep, the 500 Giulia GTA buyers will be able to choose from a selection of racing-inspired liveries, a racing number of their choice, and even a car cover featuring a matching scheme. That, we suspect, is for the sort of buyer who wears flameproof racing boots around the house, as slippers.

Alfa Romeo says it “took inspiration from some of the GTA’s most prestigious victories, including the yellow nose that distinguished the 1971 European Touring Car Championship winning car, the asymmetrical nose from the 1965-1968 Sprint GTA and the symmetrical nose of the GTA 1300 Junior.

“The choice of painted nose arose from the need to distinguish the drivers in the same race from each other. The historic white 'mask' has been reinterpreted and, combined with the lateral stripes, it immediately evokes the Alfa Romeo racing heritage. The bonnet incorporates elements of the Alfa Romeo logo such as the cross, the Biscione and the Italian flag.”

If you’re not fussed with a racecar paintjob, the choice of colours is apparently limited. There’s simply red, white or green on offer, to pay tribute to the Italian flag, though owners can customise their GTA’s roll bar, seat belts, stitching and the colour of the brake callipers.
