Caterham is releasing two Final Editions of its soon-to-be-retired Seven 485
Just 85 will be created between the two versions for the European market, with prices starting at £58,139
Caterham will wave goodbye to its long-standing Seven 485 model with two limited editions that feature bespoke paint finishes and a reimagined interior. Dubbed the 485 and 485 CSR ‘Final Editions’, the former will be limited to 60 units, and the latter just 25.
They’ll also be built solely for the European market, so bad news for those in the UK who saw the images and wanted to make a B-line for the chequebook. Boo.
For those who do qualify for purchase, both variants will come in that gorgeous shade of pearly green (among four others), with the cabin gaining fresh Alcantara seats, a carbonised dashboard and a carpeted interior. And no, we aren’t kidding with that last point; floor mats are considered luxuries when it comes to back-to-basics performance cars, you know.
Mechanically, both will continue to use the naturally aspirated Ford four-pot, putting a steady 237bhp to the road through a five-speed manual. But given the Seven 485 weighs as much as the average mosquito, the power-to-weight ratio of 403bhp per tonne should be… sufficient.
Olivier Jouanne, the European territory manager for Caterham, said: “Revealing our Seven 485 Final Edition is a bittersweet moment for us and our customers. On the one hand, it marks the end of an era for one of our most iconic European models. On the other, customers now have the possibility to own the last highest-revving Seven to ever be produced.
“It’s been an incredible decade for the 485. Now, we are looking ahead to the additional production and engineering capacity that will give us the space to focus on expanding our European product offering.”
Pricing for the Caterham Seven 485 Final Editions will start at £58,139 (€67,495) before VAT and local tax are factored in.
