The ‘Brass Monkey’ is yet another 720bhp Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat special edition
It’ll set you back $113,720, though it’s a *lot* of car for the money
What’s the record for the single longest birthday bash in history? We ask because Dodge is still celebrating its HEMI sub-brand’s 20th anniversary with this: the third Durango SRT Hellcat special edition this year.
Dubbed the ‘Brass Monkey’, it gets bronze accents and trims to accompany the villainous exterior black coat, which itself matches the plus-size Brembo brakes and huge exhausts. If Darth Sidious wanted to transform into a family-friendly SUV, this is probably what he’d look like.
Particularly since that HEMI V8 is (likely) powerful enough to dispel lightning bolts at those who displease you too. The numbers are unchanged, but still impressive: 720bhp, 645lb ft, 0-62mph in 3.5s and a top speed of 180. Oh, and a tow load of nearly four tonnes. Sheesh.
The interior, however, does benefit from a small makeover. You’ll get Sepia leather seats, and lots of silver stitching and suede in places like the steering wheel, headliner and dashboard. The instrument panel is wrapped in premium materials too, while forged carbon and chrome black accents are used generously throughout.
The various gauges for g-force, engine readouts and so on remain, as does the choice of seven driver modes to switch the Brass Monkey from friendly ape to ballistic gorilla. Standard cabin goods carried over include a 10.1in infotainment screen and an 825-watt, 19-speaker Harmon Kardon audio kit.
Orders can now be placed for the Durango SRT Hellcat Brass Monkey at $113,720 (around £87k) each.
